An Original Vintage Theatrical 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" [19 x 24 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Guy Madison (born Robert Ozell Moseley) was an actor from the 1940s to the 1970s. He had one of the most unusual introductions to the movies ever! He was in the Coast Guard in 1944 at the age of 22, and while the movie "Since You Went Away" was being filmed, producer David O. Selznick wanted an unknown sailor for one of the important small parts, and he met Robert Moseley, and signed him on the spot, because of his good looks. They picked "Guy Madison" out of thin air, and billed him that way. After the movie was released, Madison received thousands of fan letters, and once he was out of the Coast Guard, he was signed to a contract, and he appeared in several movies in the late 1940s, including "Till the End of Time". In 1951, he was cast in the lead of TV's "The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok". The show was very successful, and many feature films were made out of the episodes. When that series ended, he went to Europe, where he became a star in westerns and adventure films. He had a very sad marriage from 1949 to 1954 to actress Gail Russell, who struggled with alcoholism. After they divorced, he married actress Sheila Connolly and they had four children before also divorcing. He passed away in 1996 at the age of 74.
