An Original Vintage Magazine (measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/2") (Learn More) Popular Science, the legendary monthly science magazine that was founded in 1872. Initially, it just reprinted articles from English science magazines, but it grew over time, and became a major publication with articles by the leading inventors and scientists of the day. In 1900, the ownership changed hands, and the new owners aimed it solely at very educated readers, and that caused readership to decline drastically. In 1915, the name was sold to Modern Publishing Company, and the original magazine became Scientific Monthly, and it kept publishing until 1958. But the new company revived popular science with hundreds of short, easy to read stories in each issue, with tons of illustrations and pictures. It was aimed at the average person who had an interest in crafts or hobbies, and had some interest in science. The circulation of the magazine immediately doubled, and it has remained very popular to the present day. Important Added Info: Note that this is a wonderful magazine, with fascinating articles. We have pictured one of the articles that talks about organ transplantation, and the state of it in 1933, when it was much more science fiction than science! Also note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and pictures of interior two-page spreads (including the table of contents page if there is one; but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine, and the contents page lets you know exactly what articles and stories are contained in this particular issue. Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided. Condition: very good. Note that we have attempted to check to see if the magazine is complete and uncut, and we believe that it is. However, there is a slight possibility that we might have missed a small cut or a page that was neatly removed, and if that happens, you can return the magazine. We have solely provided an overall description of the condition of the magazine, but you can also refer to our super-sized images. Please bid (or not bid) based on that overall grade and by viewing the super-sized images. Learn More about condition grades
