An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 21 1/2" x 28" [55 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

The Palm Beach Story, the classic 1942 Preston Sturges Florida screwball romantic love triangle comedy ("What a life for a runaway wife!"; perhaps Sturges' best; about a husband and wife who pretend they are not married so that the wife can romance a millionaire, and the millionaire's sister romances the husband, and things get extremely confused, and extremely funny!; this is one of Preston Sturges' best movies, and a highlight is the scene where Colbert and McCrea try to keep from getting back together, but Vallee unwittingly causes that to happen with his wonderful rendition of "Goodnight Sweetheart") starring Claudette Colbert, Joel McCrea, Mary Astor, Rudy Vallee, William Demarest, and Monte Blue. Note that Preston Sturges wanted this movie called "Is Marriage Necessary?", but the Production Code Office vetoed that!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this half-sheet, and we have also never auctioned an insert! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 21 1/2" x 28" [55 x 71 cm].

Note that the half-sheet was folded once in each direction at one time. Because the folds are such that they have not diminished over time, AND because the poster was folded down the exact center in each direction, then we MAY fold the half-sheet prior to mailing, if it reduces shipping costs, and if you do not also purchase other half-sheets that need to be sent rolled. So it will be sent either rolled in a tube or folded in a standard flat package.

Condition: good. Part of the left and top blank borders were trimmed off, but only blank white paper was affected. It has separation in around half of the vertical fold and pinholes in the corners, with tape stains in the top left, in the middle right, and in the right of the bottom blank border. It has some separation in the left and right ends of the horizontal folds. After restoration by a talented professional, the poster will display wonderfully and will require little restoration within the image.
