An Original Vintage Paperbacked Magazine Cover (measures 10 1/4" x 13 3/4") (Learn More) The Saturday Evening Post, the national magazine that was similar to Life magazine (which it preceded by over 200 years, because it was first published by Benjamin Franklin in 1728!), but which had more of a literary bent to it, with stories and condensed novels by notable authors, but with many well illustrated articles on current events and pop culture. The covers were always by "name" artists, and legendary artist Norman Rockwell became closely associated with the magazine and did more covers for them than almost anyone. The magazine was printed on a high quality paper stock, while many of its competitors were printed on "pulp" paper, so the issues of this magazine survive better and are of a much better quality. Artist: J.C. Leyendecker Important Added Info: Note that this paperbacked magazine cover is from a collection that was consigned to us by a man who collected the covers of these magazines only (of course choosing the ones with the absolute best art!), and he had all of them professionally paperbacked, which not only presents them far better, but which makes them extremely easy to frame and enjoy (not only are these works of art by famous artists of the early to middle 20th century, but they also are very nostalgic, showing America when it was growing from a minor country to the leading world power, and any of them look great framed on a wall!). What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The cover had some tears, stains, and paper loss around the edges. The restorer backed the magazine cover "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and any restorer could touch them up without re-backing the cover). Note that at some point after paperbacking, the cover was roughly handled and there are now minor creases in the upper right corner (solely in the excess paper, and not in the cover itself).
