Date Sold 9/3/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Tri-Folded Six-Sheet Movie Poster (6sh; measures 81" x 81" [206 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Jane Eyre, the 1921 Hugo Ballin silent romantic melodrama ("From the great novel by Charlotte Bronte"; about a woman who grows up as an orphan and when she leaves the orphanage, she goes to work for a mysterious man as governess to his daughter, and a romance blossoms between them) starring Mabel Ballin (in title role as Jane Eyre), Norman Trevor (as Mr. Rochester), Crauford Kent, Emily Fitzroy, and John Webb Dillion. Note that there had been four silent adaptations of this movie prior to this in the 1910s, and there were two sound versions in 1934 (with Virginia Bruce and Colin Clive) and 1943 (with Joan Fontaine and Orson Welles). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a lobby card from this movie (and NO other movie paper) until we received this six-sheet! Note that this six-sheet was printed in 4 sections designed to overlap. Also note this six-sheet poster was tri-folded only (which means there is one less vertical machine fold than usual). This means the poster has a significantly lesser number of folds than with six-sheets folded in the "regular" way, which is nice! Tri-folded six-sheets need to be sent in an oversized flat package, which measures roughly 13" x 30", so they cost more to send than regularly folded six-sheets, especially if they are sent to non-U.S. addresses. Condition: good. It appears likely that this poster was found under a floor, because there are many tiny holes scattered in various parts of the poster, likely caused by carpet tacks. There is also light staining scattered throughout, but it is not very strong. While the poster is in urgent need of expert professional restoration, it is basically "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look fantastic, but bear in mind its defects before bidding on it.
