An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 5" x 7" [13 x 18 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) I Wake Up Screaming (the movie was made under the working title of "Hot Spot", but was released under that title and as "I Wake Up Screaming" and movie paper exists with both titles), the 1941 H. Bruce Humberstone crime film noir murder mystery thriller ("Three of the hottest names in Hollywood... In a picture that makes the screen sizzle!"; "From the novel 'I Wake Up Screaming' by Steve Fisher"; about a model who is murdered, and the police inspector is sure the sports promoter who helped her get started killed her because she was leaving him, but the model's sister helps solve the murder) starring Betty Grable (in a rare non-musical dramatic role!), Victor Mature, Carole Landis, Laird Cregar, William Gargan, Alan Mowbray, Allyn Joslyn, Elisha Cook Jr., Ralph Dunn, and Dick Rich NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned an example of this herald! Note that posters and lobby cards were printed with the working title of "Hot Spot", before the title was changed to "I Wake Up Screaming". Some of those posters and lobby cards were then sniped with the new title. The herald offered here is from the paper printed with the working title, "Hot Spot". This is one of a collection of 9 rare heralds from the late 1930s and early 1940s (in 9 separate auctions). Many of them are ones we have either never auctioned before or only auctioned once or twice. The heralds were all printed in the U.S., but were mostly used in theaters in Egypt, so most have overprinting on the back for an Egyptian movie theater. Also, almost all of the heralds have tiny circular holes scattered in the image (sometimes very few, sometimes more). We strongly suggest you look closely at our images of the fronts and backs of these rare heralds before bidding on them, so you can see the location of the tiny circular holes or larger paper loss. We previously auctioned a number of heralds from this same collection, and while there are more left from this collection, all the best titles will have been auctioned after this set of auctions, and likely the remaining ones, which are from lesser movies, will be auctioned in bulk lots. Condition: good. There are around five tiny circular holes scattered in the herald, along with a thin strip of paper loss within the image. See above for more about the condition of this herald and please look at our super-sized images of both sides before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
