An Unfolded French Travel Poster (measures 23 1/2" x 39 1/2" [60 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Air France: Greece, the 1960s French airplane airline aviation travel poster promoting travel to Greece aboard Air France, and featuring Georges Mathieu artwork of a Greek column and the Parthenon. We have seen this poster in both English and French languages. Note that this poster is part of an advertising campaign commissioned by Pierre Sautet, Deputy Commercial Director of Air France in 1966. All of the posters were created by Georges Mathieu in "the style of lyrical abstraction". The campaign was such a success that it was first presented in 1967 at the Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (Paris Museum of Modern Art), followed by numerous exhibitions worldwide. It sat unused since these posters were printed between 50 and 60 years ago, and it was together with other Air France posters! Not only is it in excellent condition, but because it was never displayed, it has really bright colors, which is a giant plus (and this poster displays better in person than our image indicates).
