A Folded English Special Poster (measures 30 1/4" x 40" [77 x 102 cm]) (Learn More)

Help the Catholic Missions By Joining the A.P.F., the 1930s English religious recruitment poster ("Special sermons Sunday") encouraging people to join the Association for the Propagation of the Faith so as to convert non-believers to Catholicism. This poster features artwork of a nun helping a wounded man with a European missionary and various indigenous people in the background (including three people who appear to clearly be a Native American, an Asian man, and an African native, who could also be from Australia or New Zealand). Since the British Empire at that time had a major presence throughout Africa, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, it is likely that these missions were in all those continents! Note that we have seen online examples of this poster in the French-language also.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: very good. The poster has pinholes in the corners and some smudges and stains around the edges with some pretty minor fold wear. The paper is not fragile and the poster has survived well, considering its age. The poster was printed with a blank rectangular area at lower right where specific missions could print dates and times of their services, and this one was overprinted in that area (see our image).
