An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Venus Makes Trouble, the 1937 Gordon Wiles movie promoter romantic melodrama ("Watch your step, Jimmy! This Venus has ARMS!"; "He said he was looking for good clean fun...so this Broadway Venus took him to the cleaners!"; "You've got something there, Jimmy! And, oh boy, have we got a hit..."; "Baby, you've got vunes stopped... when it comes to charms! ...And you have her topped... when it comes to arms!"; "He said he was looking for good clean fun... so this Broadway Venus took him to the cleaners"; Dunn is a would-be big time promoter who is hired by a movie theater to ride a hot-air balloon over the city, and then is hailed as a marketing genius, and he has a turbulent romance with pretty Patricia Ellis) starring James Dunn, Patricia Ellis, Gene Morgan, Astrid Allwyn, and Thurston Hall. Note that the tagline from the one-sheet makes it clear that the name of the "Venus" of the title is related to the famous statue "Venus de Milo", and some posters include an image of that statue! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: good. There is a tiny crack in the top corner of the back piece of glass (it is solely in the black border). There is some sort of mark that looks like a pen mark on the word "MAKES" in the title. The slide does not have a cardboard holder, but rather there is black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of older glass slides. When we auction slides that have a cardboard holder, we provide a separate image of how the cardboard holder looks, but when we auction slides with the black tape (like this one) we only provide the scan of the glass slide image, because that really is about all there is to see.
