An Original Vintage Unfolded World War I Poster (measures 20 1/2" x 28 3/4" [52 x 73 cm]) (Learn More) Hunger, the 1917 U.S. World War I (WWI) Home Front poster ("For three years America has fought starvation in Belgium"; "Will you eat less - wheat meat - fats and sugar that we may still send food in ship loads?"; "United States Food Administration") encouraging Americans to eat less so that the U.S. may send more food aid to Belgium, and featuring Henry Raleigh art of a starving woman and her children Artist: Henry Raleigh Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a remarkable group of around 100 guaranteed authentic mostly war posters (around 75 war posters, plus 25 others, including political ones) mostly dating from before 1900 through 1945, with 15 from after that date! These were originally acquired by an archive decades ago, and they have been in storage ever since, until they were recently consigned to us. Many of these are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase any of these more than 100 posters! Condition: good. The poster was originally folded and someone mounted it onto a very thin linen, with no excess. Either before or after it was backed, it acquired many creases and a few tears around the edges, but mostly in the blank borders (see our image). It also has darkening in parts of the borders, affecting the top of the image. Any talented restorer could remove this poster from the old linen and properly re-back it, but bear this in mind before placing a bid on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
