An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Harvey, the classic 1950 Henry Koster mental illness fantasy comedy ("The wonderful Pulitzer Prize play... Becomes one of the great motion pictures of our time!"; "From the play written by Mary Chase"; about a man and his attempt to have people come to terms with his 6 foot, imaginary rabbit named Harvey; his sister tries to have him committed, but is he insane, or is Harvey somehow "real"?) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Josephine Hull (winner of the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Charles Drake, Cecil Kellaway, Jesse White, Victoria Horne, Wallace Ford, Peggy Dow, and Clem Bevans NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release posters from this classic comedy are scarce (more rare than the vast majority of 1950 titles, likely because many of the existing ones were purchased decades ago by non-poster collectors). We have only auctioned three one-sheets over the years, and we have never auctioned even a single three-sheet or six-sheet, until we were consigned this three-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had paper loss at some crossfolds and tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of several foldlines. It had pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges and some smudges scattered in the yellow areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed. The person who did the restoration did not want to paint over the background areas, so they mostly left the smudges in the yellow areas alone, and I completely agree with this decision, because it keeps the poster from having a "heavily restored" look, and the smudges are not very distracting, and they help establish that this is an original 1950 poster from this classic comedy.
