An Original Vintage Theatrical 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" [17 x 22 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Loves of Carmen, the 1927 Raoul Walsh silent romantic melodrama (loosely based on the classic opera by Bizet) starring Dolores Del Rio (in the title role as Carmen), Victor McLaglen, Don Alvarado, Nancy Nash, and Jack Baston. Note that Raoul Walsh had been an actor since the mid 1910s, and also was directing movies at the same time. In 1928, soon after this movie was made, he had a car accident that resulted in him losing an eye, and that caused him to quit acting and solely focus on directing (and he wore an eyepatch the rest of his life).
