Teil - Fest der Volker (released in the U.S. as "The Olympiad"), the 1938 Leni Riefenstahl (movie actress who became a director for Hitler and made "Triumph of the Will" and this film) German Olympic sports documentary featuring documentary footage of the Olympic events, which included the top athletes from Germany, but also from the other competing countries, including the black athletes from the U.S., most notably Jesse Owens and Ralph Metcalfe. Adolf Hitler appears in the movie, and there are additional sequences of athletes performing (some in the nude), which were filmed especially for this movie. Note that this documentary on the 1936 Berlin Olympics was so massive that it was released in two parts (the first part was "Olympia Part I: Festival of the Nations", and the second part was "Olympia Part II: Festival of Beauty"; so technically this movie should be referred to as "Festival of the Nations", but because most people know it under the title of "Olympia" or "Olympiad", we refer to it in that way). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned three German stills (they were stills because they were unnumbered) from this movie, and those had a Tobis logo in the printing. We also previously auctioned two numbered German lobby cards, like this one (and another one we are currently auctioning in a separate auction) and those do not have any logo in the printing, but they do have a number printed in the bottom right. They have a stamp on the back that has the title of the movie in German and "PHOTO: TOBIS-OLYMPIA" at the bottom of the stamp (see our images). We were told by an expert that these lobby cards are definitely from 1938, and the two that were previously auctioned previously sold for $387 and $106. Also note that this German lobby card measures 9 1/4" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]. Condition: good to very good. The card has a tack hole in each corner and each is surrounded by some discoloration and there is some small paper loss at lower right due to rough removal. Other than a few light scuff marks that are mostly only noticeable when the card is tilted to the light the card is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
