An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 9 1/2" x 11" [24 x 28 cm], 165 pages) (Learn More)

Advise and Consent (released in other English-speaking countries as "Storm Over Washington"), the classic 1962 Otto Preminger political U.S. Senate campaigning behind-the-scenes-deal-making Washington D.C. Secretary-of-State-confirmation melodrama ("Are the men & women in Washington really like this?"; "Otto Preminger spotlights the men and women of Washington D.C.. on the record and off!"; "Based on the novel by Allen Drury"; about the wheeling and dealing that is necessary in order to have the Senate confirm a Presidential nominee for Secretary of State; the process is worse today than it was in 1962, but in this movie, there is the revelation that the nominee was once a member of the Communist party and lied about it under oath, and a Senator on the confirmation committee is a closet homosexual Mormon from Utah, and he commits suicide when he is confronted with blackmail!) starring Henry Fonda, Charles Laughton (in his final movie role), Don Murray, Walter Pidgeon, Peter Lawford, Gene Tierney, Franchot Tone, Lew Ayres, Burgess Meredith, Eddie Hodges, Paul Ford, George Grizzard, Inga Swenson, Paul McGrath, Edward Andrews, Will Geer, Betty White, Tom Helmore, Hillary Eaves, Rene Paul, Michele Montau, Paul Stevens, Russ Brown, and Malcolm Atterbury

Artist: Saul Bass
Important Added Info: Note that this is an original script for this classic political movie, and it is dated July 5, 1961. It contains a number of undated yellow and blue revision pages. On page 36 and 37, two of Don Murray's lines had been carefully cut out (we imagine they were cut from the final version of the movie). The cover of the script has the Saul Bass designed art. Together with the script is a letter on an Advise & Consent letterhead, which has the same Saul Bass art, from the movie's production company to Peter Lawford's agent, rejecting Mr. Lawford's request for extra reimbursement for his living expenses (see our images).

Note that this is one of fifteen Saul Bass related items we were consigned from a very longtime Saul Bass collector. While Saul Bass did some incredibly memorable movie posters (including Vertigo and Anatomy of a Murder), much of his work only appeared in print ads, often in exhibitor magazines, and locating those ads (either in the magazine, or cut out of them) is incredibly difficult, because the magazines only went to theater owners, and virtually no one saved them! This is a great opportunity to obtain extremely rare Saul Bass items.

Condition: good to very good. The cover of the script has scuffs but is otherwise in pretty nice condition. The letter has some staining and pencil notes in the top left, and some creases around the edges. See our multiple images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this script and the letter.
