An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Standee (measures 31 3/4" x 59 1/2" [81 x 151 cm]) (Learn More) It's Movietime, U.S.A., the 1951 movie theater promotion ("Celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the American Movie Theatre!"; "Movie time"; "Go to a movie theatre today!"; "Golden jubilee attractions coming your way!") made to encourage people to go to the movies! Note that the poster for this poster is undated, and it mentions the "Golden Jubilee of the American Movie Theatre", which would seem to be the 50th anniversary. But exactly when did "movie theaters" begin? Apparently they thought it was 1901, because we have seen the pressbook for this promotion, and it tells that the promotion began in October 1951 and continued into 1952. The pressbook explains how the 23,000 theaters participating in this "Golden Jubilee" promotion were showing 50 different current and recent release movies, and it has advertising about those 50 movies. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously sold some movie posters created for this special promotion, but only once before this rare standee (which was 6 years ago, when that one sold for $1,498), which has a blank area in the top center where the movie theater was supposed to put a half-sheet. I bet the person who purchases this will put a half-sheet of their choice in that area, and it will make for a wonderful and unique home display! Also note that this standee has a regular standee backing, and it could be stood up and displayed (or of course, one could instead choose to frame it). Because the standee was created on a heavy board, it will need to be shipped in a very large flat package that measures approximately 32" x 34" (because it can be folded in half, as intended when it was created), so incorporate that cost of shipping into your bidding. Condition: good to very good. The standee was created on corrugated cardboard and there are some scuffs scattered throughout the image, but not too bad. There are some stains and smudges around the edges. This incredibly rare standee can certainly be displayed as it is, or it can be restored (in a variety of possible ways).
