Date Sold 12/12/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Thirty by Forty Movie Poster (30x40; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest, the classic 1959 Alfred Hitchcock New York City South Dakota romantic crime suspense thriller ("The Master of Suspense weaves his greatest tale... about a secret that nobody knew... a man who never existed... and a love affair that began in an upper berth - and ended in screaming death!"; "From the killer plane in the cornfield to the cliff-hanger on George Washington's nose, it's suspense in every direction!"; "The master of suspense spins his greatest tale"; "A train may be an old-fashioned way to travel, but an upper berth can be a lovely way to go - When It's Your Time To Go......"; "Breathless excitement that races from glittering Manhattan to the great stone faces of Mt. Rushmore!"; "Written by Ernest Lehman") starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, Jessie Royce Landis, Leo G. Carroll, Martin Landau, Edward Platt, and Phillip Ober NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned this thirty by forty once before (and it sold for $7,777). It has the same image as the one-sheet, but whereas that poster is black and red only with a white background, this poster is full-color and has a much more striking yellow and green background, so this is MUCH more desirable, but it is many times more rare than the one-sheet! Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has a few faint smudges, creases, and stains scattered in the yellow background areas, with a partial horizontal crease running in the yellow background area below the word "NORTHWEST" in the title. There is a 1" tear in the center of the left border and a tack hole in each corner, with creases in the top blank border, and some darkening and tiny "bumps" in the top edge of the poster. We would think most collectors would happily display this ultra rare poster as it is, or certainly restoration could be performed to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
