eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result BRUTE MAN 3sh Appears in Hershenson Pressbook CollectionThe image at right is provided for reference purposes and we do not we have it available for purchase, nor do we know of anyone who does! The Brute Man, the 1946 Jean Yarbrough horror thriller ("Towering NEW terror! No woman safe from his crushing arms..."; "Original Story by Dwight V. Babcock") starring Tom Neal, Jane Adams, Jan Wiley, Peter Whitney, Donald MacBride, and Rondo Hatton (in the title role "as The Brute Man"). Note that Rondo Hatton was afflicted with acromegaly, which is a chronic disease marked by enlargement of the bones of the extremities, face, and jaw. Hollywood saw in Hatton the chance to make money by exploiting the way the disease had distorted his features, and for several years prior to his death, he was a villain in several Universal horror movies. He starred in this movie, which was also produced by Universal, but when he passed away before it was released, Universal was embarrassed to be releasing it, and they sold the rights to PRC, a much smaller studio, which released the movie (apparently the PRC owners were not that embarrassed).
