A Linenbacked Japanese Travel Poster (measures 24 3/4" x 36" [63 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Nagoya Rail Agency, the 1930s Japanese train railroad railway travel poster which was created for use inside Japan to encourage citizens to visit tourist destinations within the country. Note that this poster features artwork of Mount Hakusan (Mount Haku) in Nishiwaki, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. Along with Mount Tate and Mount Fuji, it is one of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains". If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Japanese travel poster! If anyone knows more about the exact date of this circa 1930s poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Know that there are many much later reprints of this poster (and the image is used in many other ways as well), but this is the rare first release travel poster. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tears and paper loss along the top, extending into the image background. It had a 6" tear at top right. It had some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss in the other borders. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking.
