An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (released in other English-speaking countries as "Abbott and Costello Meet the Ghosts"), the 1948 Charles T. Barton monster horror spoof comedy ("It's a grand New idea for Fun!"; the eighth Universal Frankenstein movie, and this time they added their #1 comedy team to both liven up the series, and to inject comedy; many people fondly remember this as their favorite of the 1940s Frankenstein movies!; "Jeepers! The Creepers are after Bud and Lou!"; "The laughs are MONSTERous! Bud and Lou are in a stew when they tangle with the Titans of Terror!"; "The monsters of menace vs the masters of Mirth!") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Lon Chaney Jr. ("The Wolf Man played by Lon Chaney"), Bela Lugosi (returning as Dracula after being long absent from the role; "Dracula played by Bela Lugosi"), Glenn Strange (in the title role, playing the Frankenstein monster; "The Monster played by Glenn Strange"), Lenore Aubert, Jane Randolph, Frank Ferguson, Charles Bradstreet, and Vincent Price (in a cute cameo, as the voice of The Invisible Man at the end of the movie!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a VERY rare poster! This is quite likely because the movie was given a quick re-release in 1956, during which time first release one-sheets would have likely been used or destroyed. Of course, this also would have been a poster that people from outside the hobby would have bought, even many decades ago, and that could help account for the rarity. We have only previously auctioned three examples of this poster, and one of those was only in "fair to good" condition (and that one still sold for $3,700!), and the three that we auctioned were 14 years ago and 21 years ago! Condition: very good. The poster was folded in half an extra time. There was 3" of separation in the middle of the vertical fold and someone put a piece of paper tape on the back of that area. There are creases and tiny pinholes around the edges of the poster with a few tiny tears and small paper loss in the lower right blank border. There are two tiny pieces of clear tape in the left and right of the top blank border and some faint creases scattered through the poster. Certainly, none of the above defects are very significant and one could display this great poster as it is or one might choose to have it linenbacked (it has never had any restoration, other than the pieces of tape described above)!
