An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) No Man of Her Own, the 1932 Wesley Ruggles romantic love triangle gambling melodrama ("He married her - on the 'flip' of a coin!"; based on the novel 'No Bed of Her Own' by Val Lewton; about a cheating gambler hiding from the police who meets his future wife, a librarian, while in hiding; they get married and she discovers that he is a cheat and pressures him to give it up, so he eventually turns himself in) starring Clark Gable ("America's Heart Throb"), Carole Lombard, Dorothy Mackaill, Grant Mitchell, J. Farrell MacDonald, George Barbier, Tommy Conlon, Elizabeth Patterson, and Lillian Harmer. Note that this was the only movie that Gable and Lombard co-starred in. They were not romantically involved until years later! Also note that this movie was based on a 1932 by then unknown author Vladimir Leventon, who wrote under many pseudonyms, and this one he happened to write as "Val Lewton"! He was 28 at this time, and had not had much success, and it would be ten more years before he would get hired at RKO, and make some of the most famous psychological horror movies on next to no budget, including, of course, "Cat People"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfold and many creases and scuffs on both foldlines. There were some scuffs scattered in the rest of the poster and many pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer linenbacked the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do much restoration to the defects described above (they are definitely noticeable, but I would think many collectors would still be happy to display this ultra rare and cool poster on their wall, and certainly a restorer could perform additional touch up, with or without re-backing the poster).
