An Original 1952 Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style A Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Rashomon (released in the U.S. in 1952 as "Rasho-mon"), the classic 1950 Akira Kurosawa Japanese murder mystery crime thriller ("Acclaimed the best picture of the year from any country"; "Winner of the grand prize 1951 Venice Film Festival"; "The great and exciting Japanese production which brings a new experience in the cinema."; where a killing is shown from four different points of view, with wildly different versions) starring Toshiro Mifune, Machiko Kyo (billed as "...introducing the beautiful Machiko Kyo"), Masayuki Mori, Takashi Shimura, and Minoru Chiaki NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned two examples of this poster before! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. There is a 4" diagonal tear at lower right (see our image). There are a few faint smudges around the edges and there are a few tiny tears in portions of the lower blank border. It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and after some proper restoration to the above the poster will look great! Learn More about condition grades
