An Original Serigraph (measures 3/4" x 16" x 20" [2 x 41 x 51 cm]) (Learn More) Marilyn Monroe is one of the greatest larger-than-life movie stars ever of the 1950s, and surely the greatest sex symbol of all time! She appeared in several memorable movies including: Some Like It Hot, The Prince & the Showgirl, All About Eve, The Asphalt Jungle, The Misfits, The Seven Year Itch, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Monkey Business, and Niagara. The last film that she worked on was Something's Got To Give in 1962. 20th Century Fox blamed Marilyn for the production being behind schedule, and fired her in June (the film was never completed). In August, she was found dead in her home from an apparent drug overdose, and her death was ruled a suicide (though there are theories that foul play was involved, and even in 2019, many people do not feel it was an "accidental" death) AND John Fitzgerald Kennedy was a politician from the 1950s to the 1960s. He was the 35th President of the United States from 1961 until he was tragically assassinated while in office on November 23, 1963 at th age of 46. His brother Robert was assassinated five years later while he was running for President, and their older brother Joe died in World War II. Their father was Joseph P. Kennedy, the famous businessman who had a long-running affair with Gloria Swanson and produced some of her movies. The "Kennedy curse" continues as JFK's son was a toddler when his father was killed, and later died in a plane crash at a young age. Artist: Davo Important Added Info: Note that this is a serigraph by Miguel Davo, likely from the 1990s. He was born in 1950 and as a young adult he was a painter, but he then became a professional photographer. In the 1970s, he met Andy Warhol and was greatly influenced by him. He settled on "Pop Art", which he called "neo-pop expressionism". His primary technique is serigraphy. He also creates densely layered assemblages and collages. One art critic has said of his work, "his meandering through subjects, styles, mediums, formats and sizes maintains a unique and graceful balance." This serigraph is made to resemble an oil painting, so it is printed on canvas and mounted on a wooden stretcher as oil painting would be. It has a stamp on the back of the canvas that gives Davo's information and phone number, plus writing about the serigraph and two Davo signatures (see our image). Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S. Condition: very good to fine. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item! Learn More about condition grades
