An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 17"; 6 pages) (Learn More) Bayou, the 1957 Harold Daniels Louisiana sexploitation adventure thriller ("Bold! Brutal! Barbaric!"; "Somewhere, a 15-year old girl may be a teen-ager... In the Cajun country, she's a woman full-grown!... And every Bayou man knows it!"; "'You're fifteen... You're woman enough!'"; "Adventure as wild as the Cajun Country itself... Emotions deep and dangerous as the infested waters... ready to explode at a touch, a glance, an embrace!"; "Story and Screenplay by Edward I. Fessler") starring Peter Graves, Lita Milan, Douglas Fowley, Timothy Carey (billed as "presenting Tim Carey"), and Jonathan Haze. Note that this film did poorly at the box office, and when the rights reverted back to producer M.A. Ripps, he added new footage (mainly nudity), changed the title to Poor White Trash, and began a marketing campaign with warnings about the "abnormal" subject matter. These tactics were so successful that he employed them again in 1976 when he acquired the rights to Scum of the Earth, and changed the title to Poor White Trash Part II (even though it had nothing to do with this film). While it does have some new footage as mentioned above, we are listing Poor White Trash under Bayou because they are essentially the same film. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!
