An Original Vintage Theatrical Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Wasp Woman, the classic 1959 Roger Corman giant bug insect science fiction (sci-fi) thriller ("A beautiful woman by day - a lusting queen wasp by night!"; "See: Strong men forced to satisfy a passion no human knows!"; "See: A beautiful woman by day - a lusting queen wasp by night!"; "Written by Leo Gordon") starring Susan Cabot (in the title role as the wasp woman), Fred Eisley, Barboura Morris, William Roerick, and Michael Mark. Note that this movie was guilty of one of the most blatant cases of "false advertising" in an industry filled with unfulfilled promises! The posters and the title card for this movie shows a giant wasp with a woman's head, while the movie delivers a normal-sized woman with a really fake looking wasp head! Also, note that Susan Cabot had a very interesting life, as you can see by clicking on her biography link above. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been "gel backed". What does that mean? It means that a talented restorer backed the poster onto a gel material, and they then performed restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, and afterward the poster still looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. Many collectors prefer this method of restoration to paperbacking or linenbacking, because with those methods the poster no longer looks like it was not backed. Gel backing can't be used with posters that have major paper loss or other major defects, but for the posters it can be used on, it is really an excellent method of restoration! Note that this poster was gel backed, and while it could be rolled and sent in a tube, we would worry that doing so would either damage the poster or bring back the folds. Therefore, we would much prefer to send it in a large flat package. However, if the new buyer insists, we will send it in a tube, but only if they accept responsibility for doing so. What IS gelbacking? Learn More Condition: very good. The poster had creases, small tears, smudges, and some small tape stains around the edges, with many water stains scattered across the bottom 1" of the poster. The poster was never folded, but it had some creases down the center, in the hair and cheek of the woman, with creases and scuffs in her body. It had some creases and scuffs in the background areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to restoration. You can see slight signs of the restoration, but the poster displays really well! Learn More about condition grades
