An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Japanese "B1" Movie Poster (29x41; measures 28 1/2" x 40 1/2" [72 x 103 cm]) (Learn More)

Hotaru no Haka (released in the U.S. in 1994 as "Grave of the Fireflies"), the 1988 Isao Takahata Japanese Studio Ghibli animation animated anime cartoon World War II (WWII) tragic family relationship melodrama (about a young brother and sister in Japan in the closing days of World War II; their mother is killed in a U.S. air raid, and their father is a Japanese soldier off at war, so they must rely on themselves to survive, with no money and no food; their only entertainment is the light of fireflies at night!) featuring the voices of Tsutomu Tatsumi, Ayano Shiraishi, Yoshiko Shinohara, and Akemi Yamaguchi. Note that this is one of the most highly regarded of the modern Japanese anime movies!
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that, as noted below, this Japanese B1 poster is likely far more rare than the Japanese B2 poster from the same movie. We last auctioned this poster two years ago, and it sold for $775! Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Japanese movie! Also note that this is a rare Japanese "B1" poster that measures 28 1/2" x 40 1/2" [72 x 103 cm]! "B1" posters are FAR more rare than "B2" posters (which measure approximately 20" x 28 1/2"), and because they are larger (similar in size to a U.S. one-sheet), they are more impressive when displayed on a wall! Finally, note that this poster was folded across the middle at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note that this item is in eMoviePoster.com's special "all animation" auction! The idea for this auction began when we were consigned a remarkable collection of original 1940s Walt Disney pressbooks, mini lobby cards, and standees (and almost all of those are extremely rare ones that are hardly ever auctioned, and they almost all are in really nice condition). Once we knew we had those items, we contacted all our past consignors, and asked them to consign to this very special auction, and they REALLY came through, consigning a wonderful assortment of cartoon movie paper of all sorts. Buying from this special auction gives you an incredibly rare opportunity to obtain some of the finest cartoon animation movie paper we have ever seen, and all of them will have new owners when these auctions close, because all start at $1 with no reserve. Many of these items will likely not be auctioned again for many years to come!

Condition: very good. The poster was folded across the middle and it has creases on that fold. It has tiny paper loss in the bottom right blank corner and a few creases scattered throughout the image.
