Artist: Roger Kastel/Tony Seiniger Agency Important Added Info: Note that this is a most unusual poster, and one that neither we, nor anyone else we can find, has ever seen or heard of before! It is very close in measurement to a six-sheet (which would measure roughly 81" x 81", and this measures 83" x 91", as noted on the back of the poster), but we don't think it is a six-sheet (this size is sometimes called a "7-sheet" [seven sheet], because it is slightly larger than a 6-sheet). Prior to the recent discovery of this poster, we had never seen or heard of a Jaws poster that measures greater than 40" x 60", and we did not think they made three-sheets or six-sheets for this title, and they may well not have, because not one of either size has ever surfaced. This poster is clearly an advance, because it says "Opens June 20th Everywhere", and we strongly suspect that someone (perhaps Spielberg himself) wanted Universal to create a 24-sheet billboard poster for the movie, and that they did not do so for some reason, and instead created this "smaller" poster. Why? Because it has printing on the back (see our image of the printing) that gives a small chart that shows how the two pieces of the poster are intended to be joined together (calling them "1" and "2"!) and obviously, even the most simple-minded person would not need this chart! However, a chart like this is printed on the back of most billboard size posters, because they often have 12 or more pieces, some of which have only background image, and for those posters, this kind of chart is extremely useful. So it would seem likely that this is kind of a "mini billboard" poster! We certainly hope that the new owner of this poster (which looks incredible in person) will choose to display it as was originally intended, rather than keep it hidden away from the public! Each piece of the poster was only partially folded and it now measures approximately 15" x 27 1/2", and it will need to be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 17" x 30". Condition: very good. Each piece of the poster was only partially folded and it now measures approximately 15" x 27 1/2", and there are some creases, smudges, and scuffs on parts of the foldlines. There is a small tear in the middle of the "W" of "JAWS", tiny paper loss and some tiny tears in the left vertical foldline in the blue background area to the left of "Super Thriller" (the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded), and tiny separation in the bottom of the middle vertical foldline. There is some slight darkening and a few stains on the back of the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded, and there are some small tears, smudges, and stains in a small part of the bottom of the top section, but fortunately, that falls in the part of the poster that is overlapped by the bottom section, so it doesn't show at all. The poster has a few minor defects, but I would think it is unlikely that this poster would be found in better condition, assuming another one ever surfaces! Learn More about condition grades
