A 1948 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13 1/2" x 30" [34 x 76 cm]) (Learn More)

When the Kellys Rode, the 1934 Harry Southwell Australian historical biographical crime melodrama (about the legendary Australian bank robber, Ned Kelly, who was chased by the police, and was eventually caught and killed in a major shootout) starring Harry Simpson ("as Ned Kelly"), Regina Somerville, Jack Appleton, Norman Wait, and Robert Inglis. Note that this is one of the major early movies made in Australia. Shortly after it was first released, it was banned, and was not allowed to be shown until 1942, but its first re-release did not occur until 1948. First release movie paper from the 1934 released is beyond rare, and the 1948 Australian movie paper is quite rare in itself. Note that in 1970, another movie was made about the same subject by Tony Richardson, called "Ned Kelly", with Mick Jagger in the starring role.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Australian movie!

Condition: good. The poster has light water staining scattered across the top fold area, extending down into the right end of the title. It also has water staining in the bottom left corner and a small bit in the top right corner. It has some separation and tiny paper loss on both folds, with three pieces of tape on the back. While this poster has real defects, it is an excellent candidate for restoration. It is likely that some or all of the water staining can be removed through chemical means, and after linenbacking, it will look fantastic, and likely have a small amount of paint restoration anywhere in the image.
