Bradbury (billed as "R.N. Bradbury") cowboy western ("Adapted from the James Oliver Curwood Novel 'The Wolf Hunters'") starring John Wayne, Verna Hillie, Noah Beery Sr., Noah Beery Jr., Robert Frazer, Iris Lancaster, and James A. Marcus. Note that this was one of the five movies where father and son Noah Beery Sr. and Jr. appeared together between 1930 and 1942! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that three-sheet posters from John Wayne's 1930s movies are incredibly rare! Prior to the discovery of this three-sheet, we only had auctioned three different three-sheets from 1936 movies John Wayne made, plus one from 1938 and one from 1939. But this poster is from 1934, which makes it the earliest John Wayne three-sheet we have auctioned (except from some of the Tim McCoy movies that John Wayne appeared in, but was not billed or pictured on the three-sheet). We know for certain that this poster is from 1934, both because of the litho number, and also because the image is that of a generic cowboy, because in 1934, few people knew what John Wayne looked like! There have been some John Wayne three-sheets that predate this one sold at other auctions and privately between collectors. However, we don't know that another example of this poster exists, and it may be many years before another example surfaces. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tears, light stains, and paper loss scattered in the folds down the right side of the poster and in the right border. There was a lesser amount down the left side of the poster. There were small tears and tiny paper loss on parts of many folds, with brown stains in the top center of the poster. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone mounted the poster onto a fairly thin linen and performed only the slightest restoration. This was likely done many years ago. The poster absolutely should be removed from the old linen and re-backed. After proper restoration of the above defects (which would include removing the light stains described above, properly through chemical means), the poster will display really well! But bear in mind the condition of the poster and the cost of restoration before placing a bid on it. Learn More about condition grades
