It originally read: "The overnight sensation of 'East of Eden' becomes the star of the year!", but the second half of the tagline was overprinted, no doubt because Dean died a month before the movie was released (but after the posters were prepared), and no doubt someone at the studio thought the tagline was now in bad taste. Depending on how you look at it, this is either a cool addition to the poster or a defect. Please do not bid on the poster unless you can accept that it is overprinted in this area. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had creases, smudges, scuffs, and a few tiny tears around the edges, with a 2 1/2" tear in the right border, with small paper loss at the end of that tear in the blank border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
