An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Woman in His House, the 1920 John M. Stahl silent family relationship medical doctor polio epidemic neglected wife melodrama ("The big super special"; "She awoke suddenly to the fact that she loved him"; "'I've never been your wife - I'm just the woman in your house'"; "'Mayer-made"; from the story "by Irene Reels"; a wild story of a woman who marries a doctor and has a son, but the doctor spends all his time on his work, especially when there is a polio epidemic, and then their own son gets polio, and he is thought to have died, but actually, the doctor is hiding the boy from his wife, because he is paralyzed, and he feels his wife would deal with his death easier than having a paralyzed child, but she ends up finding out he is still alive, and when the boy sees his mother, he is miraculously cured) starring Mildred Harris, Ramsey Wallace, Thomas Holding, George Fisher, and Gareth Hughes. Note that Mildred Harris had been married to Charlie Chaplin, and after they were divorced, she was billed for a while as either "Mildred Harris Chaplin" or "Mrs. Charlie Chaplin". In this movie, she is not even billed on the poster (although the IMDb says she was billed as "Mildred Harris Chaplin"), so perhaps the novelty of her relationship to Chaplin had already faded by this time (likely because no one was fooled, or because people who were fooled were mad about it). Soon after, she went back to being billed as "Mildred Harris". Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had paper loss at the top and bottom crossfolds and smaller paper loss at the middle crossfold. It had pinholes in the corners and some small paper loss in the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
