Date Sold 10/30/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style C One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Mighty Joe Young, the classic 1949 Ernest B. Schoedsack fantasy animal gorilla ape thriller ("Striking! Startling! Staggering!"; "Merian Cooper's amazing adventure in the unusual!"; "Staggering sensation! Electrifying excitement!"; "The ten most terrific thrills ever pictured"; "The cyclonic cavalcade of electrifying sensations that makes your eyes pop out and your heart skip a beat!"; produced by John Ford & Merian C. Cooper; with special effects by Ray Harryhausen, in his first movie, and "Technical Creator Willis O'Brien", creator of King Kong!) starring Terry Moore, Ben Johnson, Robert Armstrong, Frank McHugh, Douglas Fowley, Paul Guilfoyle, Nestor Paiva, and Pat Barton. Note that Ray Harryhausen was sadly not given any credit on the posters for this movie, likely because he was unknown at this time, but Willis O'Brien was credited, no doubt in the hopes that people would remember him from King Kong! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but because of the tape on the back of the poster, which prevents it from being re-folded (see below), it will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The owner of this poster decades ago decided to reinforce the poster by putting clear tape on the back of all the foldlines and on the back of any tears or pinholes around the edges of the poster (if there was any paper loss at all, he put a tiny piece of paper underneath the tape, and over the paper loss, and then used colored pen to make the repair match the color from the front)! The tape has somewhat bled through to the front. The poster CAN'T be folded, because of all the tape on the back of the foldlines. One could either display the poster just as it is, or any talented restorer could certainly remove the tape, linenback the poster, and then perform touch up to its defects, and it would look great. But please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept this very significant defect, and have carefully studied our super-sized image to see the exact extent of the tape bleed through.
