An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Humoresque, the 1946 Jean Negulesco tragic romantic melodrama ("A woman with a stormy heart she couldn't control!"; "A beautiful woman is most dangerous when she's in love!"; "'Love me now,' she said, 'hate me later'... and then all the warmth of their nearness engulfed these two who met and kissed and shouldn't have met again!"; "Screen Play by Clifford Odets and Zachary Gold"; "Based on a Story by Fannie Hurst"; about a rich society woman who becomes obsessed with a much younger brilliant violinist; he returns her love, but also loves a much younger woman, with tragic consequences; sort of a cross between "Golden Boy" and "Sunset Boulevard") starring Joan Crawford ("The winner of the 1945 Academy award for 'Mildred Pierce' in another history-making role!"), John Garfield, Oscar Levant, J. Carrol Naish, Robert 'Bobby' Blake, Joan Chandler, and Ruth Nelson NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fair to good. This poster has been linenbacked, but it was not very well done, either because the restorer did not do a very good job, or because the years since it has been linenbacked have not been kind to the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Generally, it had paper loss at the crossfolds (the one at center had a piece of tape on the back which bled through to the front), minor wear on the foldlines, and many pinholes, creases, tears, and areas of paper loss around the edges. The poster was not that well backed, because you can see signs of the above general defects and the restoration of the defects (in some cases, as should be immediately evident in our image, the linenbacker did no restoration to some of the defects). I would think few collectors would want to display it as it is, without someone performing some additional restoration. Certainly, a talented restorer could perform additional restoration (either with or without re-backing the poster), but it might be fairly expensive to have this done, so bear that in mind before you place a bid.
