A 1960 Movie Radio Spots Record (measures 12" x 12" [30 x 30 cm]; 33 1/3 RPM record) (Learn More) G.I. Blues (GI Blues), the 1960 Norman Taurog rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) Army military romantic musical comedy ("Swing out and sound off with Elvis Presley in the red, white and blue star-bright show of the year!"; "Elvis scores... A singing triumph... And a romantic hit!"; "Written by Edmund Beloin and Henry Garson") starring Elvis Presley, Juliet Prowse, Robert Ivers, James Douglas, and Leticia Roman. Note that Elvis, unlike the vast majority of stars from the 1950s on, did not attempt to get out of his military service, and he went in to the army in 1958 (at the height of his popularity) and he got out two years later, and this was the first movie he made after returning (and naturally, he made a fictionalized version of his life in the military). Important Added Info: Note that this record is for "radio spots", which were sent to movie theaters to give to their local radio stations to get publicity for the about to be shown movie, and is much more rare than commercial records for those movies. The record is labeled with what the individual spots contain, so see our super-sized image to see what radio spots are included. Also note that the record is contained in a single paper sleeve. We don't know if it was originally sent in any additional packaging. The auction contains the record in a single blank paper sleeve (part of it is missing, and only approximately three-quarters of the sleeve remains), which we did not picture. Condition: very good.
