A Linenbacked French Special Poster (measures 31 1/2" x 47 1/2" [80 x 121 cm]) (Learn More)

Souscrivez A L'Emprunt Banque Francaise et Italienne (literally translates to "Subscribe to the Loan. French and Italian Bank"), the 1920 French post-World War I (WWI) economic revival poster featuring Rene Prejelan artwork of a worker leading an army of coins.
Artist: Rene Prejelan
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster, which we have never auctioned before! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds, with some smudges scattered in the background areas. It had tears, paper loss, and some stains around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects, and the restorer painted over all of the borders to "even them out"
