Date Sold 9/30/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1957 Re-Release Theatrical Unfolded Polish Movie Poster (23x33; measures 24 1/4" x 34" [62 x 86 cm]) (Learn More) Citizen Kane, the classic 1941 Orson Welles (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) biographical newspaper journalism melodrama ("Some called him a hero... Others called him a heel"; "It's Terrific!"; loosely based on the life of William Randolph Hearst; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; many people consider it the finest movie ever made) starring Orson Welles (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Charles Foster Kane), with the members of Welles' "Mercury Actors", who had previously acted with him on stage, Joseph Cotten (as Jedediah Leland), Dorothy Comingore (as Susan Alexander Kane), Everett Sloane (as Mr. Bernstein), Ray Collins (as Jim W. Gettys), George Coulouris (as Walter Parks Thatcher), Agnes Moorehead (as Mary Kane, Kane's mother), Paul Stewart (as Raymond), Ruth Warrick (as Emily Monroe Norton Kane), Erskine Sanford (as Herbert Carter), William Alland (as Jerry Thompson), Fortunio Bonanova (as Signor Matiste), Buddy Swan (as Kane at age 8), Harry Shannon (as Kane's father), and Alan Ladd (in one of his early incredibly tiny parts, but he does have a single speaking line!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Henryk Tomaszewski Important Added Info: Note that this 1957 re-release Polish poster uses the same art from the 1948 first Polish release. But it lacks the RKO logo at bottom left and some other small differences in printer information. Both posters are incredibly rare! We have only once before auctioned this 1957 re-release poster (in 2016 and it sold for $490!). Condition: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It has a tiny amount of very slight discoloration in the lower left blank corner and a few tiny dot stains in just a few portions of the very outer edge of the left blank border. These few minor defects (which are strictly in the outer blank borders) have no effect on the image area whatsoever, and overall the very rare poster is in excellent condition!
