An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 26" x 40" [66 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Don't Bother to Knock, the 1952 Roy Baker mental illness psychological thriller ("You've never met her type before... ...a wicked sensation as the lonely girl in Room 809!"; "Based on a novel by Charlotte Armstrong"; about a mentally unstable beautiful woman, who has a major breakdown in a hotel; this movie showed that Marilyn had real acting ability, and it seems likely that she might have had a long, successful career in her later years, had she lived) starring Richard Widmark, Marilyn Monroe, Anne Bancroft (in her first movie role!), Donna Corcoran, Jeanne Cagney, Lurene Tuttle, Elisha Cook Jr., Jim Backus, Verna Felton, Willis B. Bouchey, and Don Beddoe NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet has been trimmed and it now measures 26" x 40" [66 x 102 cm]. Condition: fair to good. The poster was very neatly trimmed of parts of each of the four blank borders (only blank white paper) and then it was glued to a board. At some point, it was removed from the board (or more likely, it simply separated from it) and there is now light glue residue over the entire back of the poster, and it has slightly darkened. Before the poster was glued to the board, someone put tape repairs on the back, covering tears and pinholes around the edges. There were jagged tears with small paper loss in the middle and bottom of Widmark's figure at middle right, and someone taped paper to the back of those areas. There was also small paper loss at the top crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds, and someone had put tape on the back of those crossfolds and some tape on parts of the vertical foldline. In spite of the many defects described above, a talented restorer can certainly remove the tape from the back and properly restore the poster and linenback it (with or without replacing the tiny part of the borders that are missing) and after proper restoration, the poster would look great, but bear this in mind before placing a bid on this poster.
