An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 18 1/2" [36 x 47 cm]) (Learn More) Only Angels Have Wings, the classic 1939 Howard Hawks romantic love triangle pilot airplane aviation adventure thriller ("Together for the first time"; "Each day a rendezvous with peril... each night a meeting with romance!"; a wild story of a showgirl arriving in a mythical tiny South American country where a cynical American expatriate runs an airplane mail delivery service which involves treacherous plane flights over the Andes; there are other pilots who risk their lives and other romantic involvements, and the plot is really complicated, but the movie moves quickly, and it has a great cast, and is considered one of Howard Hawks' very best movies) starring Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, Thomas Mitchell, Rita Hayworth, Richard Barthelmess, Don 'Red' Barry, Noah Beery Jr., Miisa Sierra, Allyn Joslyn, and Sig Ruman. Note that you almost never see major Hollywood movies with two extremely attractive female leads who are fan favorites, but this one had both Jean Arthur, who had been acting for many years, but was at the height of her popularity, and Rita Hayworth, who would soon become one of America's most favorite sexy actresses! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1938 movie posters from this classic Howard Hawks movie are incredibly rare. We had only auctioned a single one-sheet from this movie (and that was 26 years ago) until we received this window card! Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 18 1/2" [36 x 47 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good to very good. Part of the blank top was neatly trimmed off. The card has two small tears in the left border and three in the right border, with creases in the bottom corners. The card has some faint brown stains scattered throughout, but it is not very noticeable. The card was displayed in a frame and there is a piece of conservation tape on the back of the center of each border. The card may have faded somewhat, but we don't know, because we have never seen another example of this card, but in spite of the defects described above, it displays well (see our image), and this super rare poster will look great on the new owner's wall!
