Cain"; about a woman trapped in a loveless marriage who gets a drifter to kill her husband, and it seems like they will get away with it, but will they?) starring Lana Turner, John Garfield, Cecil Kellaway, Hume Cronyn, Leon Ames, Audrey Totter, and Alan Reed. Note that this movie was re-made in 1981 by Bob Rafelson, starring Jack Nicholson and Jessica Lange NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, oddly, this half-sheet for this classic film noir is far more rare than the one-sheet, or even the insert! We have auctioned many one-sheets and three inserts over the years, but we have only once before auctioned this half-sheet, and that one sold for $5,350 (and it was in very similar condition to what this poster was in prior to being gel backed)! A talented restorer gel backed this poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the defects described below, and then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. The restoration was done really well, and the poster displays really well! Note that while this poster technically COULD be rolled in a tube, we would hate to do that, because rolling this poster after it was so nicely restored could cause creases or other damage, so we strongly advise against rolling it. Therefore, we will only send this poster in a very large flat package, unless the new owner insists on a tube, and accepts responsibility for any damage caused by it being rolled. The poster will arrive fine and display great if it is sent in a flat package, but it will cost more to send this way, especially if the poster is being sent outside the U.S., so please only bid on this poster when you take into mind the cost of shipping it in a very large flat package. Condition: very good. The poster was gel backed (see above). This particular poster was never folded. It had a few pinholes and tears around the edges, with tiny paper loss in the right of the top blank border and small paper loss in the bottom left blank corner. It had a small area of paper loss in the green background to the right of the lower part of Turner's hair. It had a 4" slightly diagonal vertical crease running from the right of Garfield's hair down the right of his forehead, and going through his eyebrow, but not his eye in the left image of Garfield. It had a 1 1/2" slightly diagonal scuff mark in Turner's cheek in the right image of her. The poster was gel backed by a talented professional and expert restoration was performed to the above defects. The poster looks fantastic, and it has had truly minor touch up, and best of all, it still completely looks and feels like an unrestored poster! Learn More about condition grades
