An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Mexican Movie Poster (measures 26 1/2" x 35 3/4" [67 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) La Feria de San Marcos (literally translates to "Fair of San Marcos"), the 1958 Gilberto Martinez Solares Mexican romantic musical gambling comedy (about two men and two women who meet during a festival!) starring Miguel Aceves Mejia, Ana Bertha Lepe, Pedro Vargas, Jose Alfredo Jimenez, Delia Magana, Fernando Soto (billed as "Fernando Soto 'Mantequilla'"), Pompin Iglesias, Agustin Isunza, Celia Viveros, Nacho Contla, and Armando Arreola. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Ernesto Garcia Cabral Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this poster (with great art by Ernesto Garcia Cabral), which is a "country of origin" poster for this Mexican movie, and that was 8 years ago! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 26 1/2" x 35 3/4" [67 x 91 cm]. Note that this is one of a remarkable collection of 81 Mexican posters we are currently auctioning (in 81 separate auctions). They include many of the absolute best ones, including many Cabrals, and were assembled by a single collector over many years! This is a rare opportunity to add one or more of these posters to your collection! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds, with slight darkening. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame. It appears that the blank borders of the poster were slightly trimmed, either before or after the poster was backed, so bear this in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
