Big Heel-Watha ("Buck of the Month"), the 1944 Tex Avery animated cartoon comedy short (set during World War II, a Native American Indian tribe wants meat, and they can hunt squirrels, because they are not covered by meat rationing, and "Chief Rain-in-Face" offers his daughter, "Minnie Hotcha", to the brave who brings back a squirrel, and a really dopey brave "Big Heel-Watha" goes out to find a squirrel, but he finds "Screwy Squirrel", who torments him endlessly) featuring the voices of Paul Frees, Frank Graham, Wally Maher (as Screwy Squirrel), and Bill Thompson (in the title role as Big Heel-Watha). Note that while Screwy Squirrel appears in this cartoon, he is really making somewhat of a cameo appearance, but he adds much to the cartoon. Also, this has some of Avery's zaniest humor, including "breaking the fourth wall", where the characters know that they are in a cartoon and talk to the audience! Also note that Fred "Tex" Avery was one of the greatest legends of Hollywood animation. He started working for Walter Lantz on Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in the early 1930s. He moved to Warner Bros. in 1935, where he became a legend, working on the Merry Melodies and Looney Tunes series, creating or developing the best remembered Warner Bros. cartoon characters, including Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny, and others. In 1941, after a disagreement, he briefly worked on a series called "Speaking of Animals", where real animals "talked" with animated lips, but he soon signed a contract with MGM, where he did even more wonderful work than before. He developed an entirely new type of cartoon (his MGMs are instantly recognizable as being "Tex Averys"), and they include characters such as Droopy, The Wolf, Red Hot Riding Hood, and many others. He is one of the greatest animators ever, and posters from his cartoons are difficult to obtain, and are highly sought after by collectors! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
