An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Twenty-Four-Sheet Movie Poster (24sh; measures approximately 9' x 20') (Learn More) Star Wars (now known as "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope"), the classic 1977 George Lucas (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) outer space fantasy action adventure science fiction (sci-fi) epic ("A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."; "George Lucas, the man who brought you American Graffiti now brings you an adventure as big as the cosmos itself: Star Wars, the story of a boy, a girl, and a universe. It's a spectacle light years ahead of its time from 20th Century Fox."; "Written and Directed by George Lucas"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Mark Hamill (as Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (as Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (as Princess Leia), Peter Cushing (as Grand Moff Tarkin), Alec Guinness (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Obi-Wan Kenobi), Anthony Daniels (as C-3PO), James Earl Jones (as the voice of Darth Vader), David Prowse (billed as "Dave Prowse"; as the man inside the Darth Vader suit!), Peter Mayhew (as Chewbacca), Kenny Baker (as R2-D2), and Phil Brown (as Uncle Owen) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Tom Jung Important Added Info: Note that most Star Wars collectors are well aware that larger posters were made for this classic movie, and they have likely seen images of the three-sheet and six-sheet (over the years, we have auctioned 35 three-sheets and 10 six-sheets). However, many collectors are not aware that two larger posters were made as well! There were two styles of a "7-sheet", each of which measures 81 1/2" x 91 3/4", and they also created a 24-sheet, which measures approximately 9' x 20'! The reason most collectors would not be aware of any of these three posters was because they were likely only used in Los Angeles and New York. We checked with one of the world's foremost Star Wars experts, Pete Vilmur, and he says that he thinks "that less than ten of each of these 7-sheets exist", surely making them among the most rare Star Wars posters there are (likely only the "triple-bill" one-sheets, where only two of each were made, and that this 24-sheet is EVEN MORE rare than the 7-sheets, with likely five or less of them in existence. Offered here is one of those BEYOND RARE surviving 24-sheets! NOTE THAT THIS POSTER HAS THE "OLD STYLE" STAR WARS LOGO THAT WAS NOT USED ON ANY OTHER POSTER, JUST ON SOME PROMOTIONAL ITEMS! This is an opportunity to purchase one of the absolute most rare Star Wars posters there is! Mr. Vilmur was kind enough to send us a wonderful color image from the 20th Century-Fox soundstage that appeared on the cover of "Toyota Today", a magazine that was published in 1977, and the picture shows Darth Vader holding up the hood of a special Star Wars Toyota Celica with R2-D2 and C-3PO peering under the hood, and in the background, high on a building, you can see an example of this 24-sheet! Note that this twenty-four sheet was printed in 12 sections designed to overlap. Also note that this poster needs to be sent in an oversized flat package, which measures roughly 26" x 32" x 2", so it will cost more to send than items that fit in our standard flat packages, especially if they are sent to non-U.S. addresses. We first auctioned this poster in 2017, from the collection of a super-advanced Star Wars collector, and it was the only examples of this poster we had ever auctioned, and it sold for $15,500. We have not been consigned another example of this poster in the past five years, and now, the person who purchased the only example we had auctioned in 2017 has reconsigned it to us, and it is still the only example of this poster that we have ever auctioned! Condition: very good. The poster was printed in 12 pieces, but it is fortunate that they were folded one less time than normal, which resulted in far fewer folds than there would be if it had been folded that extra time (however, this means it will need to be sent in a larger flat package than most 24-sheets, but that is a very worthwhile trade off!). There is a thin strip of darkening on the back of one of the smallest sections, the one from the top right corner, which is only blank white area and the border, and the darkening only slightly shows through to the front. There are some pieces of clear tape on the back of small parts of the poster (mostly little pieces on the back of corners of each piece), that were likely put there when it was displayed on a wall. These defects are very minor, and otherwise, the poster is in nice condition, and will be incredible when it is displayed on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
