A 1956 Re-Release Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (released in other English-speaking countries as "Abbott and Costello Meet the Ghosts"), the 1948 Charles T. Barton monster horror spoof comedy ("It's a grand New idea for Fun!"; the eighth Universal Frankenstein movie, and this time they added their #1 comedy team to both liven up the series, and to inject comedy; many people fondly remember this as their favorite of the 1940s Frankenstein movies!; "Jeepers! The Creepers are after Bud and Lou!"; "The laughs are MONSTERous! Bud and Lou are in a stew when they tangle with the Titans of Terror!"; "The monsters of menace vs the masters of Mirth!") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Lon Chaney Jr. ("The Wolf Man played by Lon Chaney"), Bela Lugosi (returning as Dracula after being long absent from the role; "Dracula played by Bela Lugosi"), Glenn Strange (in the title role, playing the Frankenstein monster; "The Monster played by Glenn Strange"), Lenore Aubert, Jane Randolph, Frank Ferguson, Charles Bradstreet, and Vincent Price (in a cute cameo, as the voice of The Invisible Man at the end of the movie!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has a completely different image to that of the first release poster, and it is unfolded and has never been backed (when we have auctioned it before, it has been paperbacked)! Also note that this classic and much loved horror movie was given a quick re-release in 1956. Best of all, many of the 1956 re-release posters have significantly better images than the 1948 first release ones! This is especially true with this half-sheet, which has large artwork images of the monsters (there were small photographic images on the 1948 half-sheet). Many collectors value this poster more highly than the 1948 half-sheet. Note also that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has darkened unevenly in the blank borders, which would seem to indicate that it was matted and that the matting caused the slight darkening, but it is truly slight and not very noticeable (and of course, it will not show if the poster is framed). There is a 1 1/2" tear in the left of the top border that has a small piece of clear tape on the back, and a 1/2" tear in the right border that has a small piece of tape on the back. There is a 1/4" tear in the lower left border that does not have tape on the back. There are some tiny creases around the edges. Other than the above truly minor defects, the poster is in really nice condition and will look incredible on the new owner's wall! Learn More about condition grades
