Important Added Info: Note that paper banners can be found from many 1950s movies, and they are sometimes thought to have been created for drive-in movies. But they were also made as early as the 1930s (and possibly even earlier), but these are incredibly rare, and almost none survive from any movies at all! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The banner had some stains, tears, and darkening around the edges. It had evenly spaced partial vertical folds with many scuffs on those folds. There were some creases, stains, and some surface paper loss scattered throughout the image, including some in the stars' faces (see our image). Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
