Date Sold 12/16/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Blacksmith, the 1922 Buster Keaton & Malcolm St. Clair silent romantic comedy short starring Buster Keaton (as the Blacksmith's assistant), Virginia Fox, and Joe Roberts (in the title role as the Blacksmith). Note that in 2013, an Argentine film collector/historian discovered an alternate version of this short (the last reel differs completely from the previously known versions). Film historians found evidence that the new version was a substantial reshoot undertaken months after completion of principal photography, and they believe the rediscovered version was Keaton's final cut intended for wide distribution. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item of any kind from this movie until we received this lobby card, which has a wonderful close image of Buster Keaton! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good to fine. There is slight darkening in the extreme outer edges of the left and bottom blank borders. There is a faint smudge and three tiny black marks in the top left blank corner. Otherwise, the card is in really excellent condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
