An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Edna Ferber's The Expert, the 1932 Archie Mayo old-man-young-boy friendship comedy ("The grandest pair of pals that ever walked the earth!"; "The laugh tear hit of the season!"; "Based on the story 'Old Man Minick'" by Edna Ferber) starring Charles 'Chic' Sale, Dickie Moore, Lois Wilson, Ralf Harolde, and Adrienne Dore. Note that Charles 'Chic' Sale was an actor who specialized in playing feisty old men, and yet they used an image of him out of makeup on the one-sheet for this movie. Also note that the source novel was written by Edna Ferber, who had had many great successes, and that the play adaptation was by Ferber and George S. Kaufman, and yet this movie adaptation was not a major success, likely confounding the Warner Bros. executives who green-lighted it into production! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster's vertical foldline was an uneven diagonal, and there were smudges and a few tiny tears on that fold and minor wear on the horizontal folds. There was paper loss in the top right blank corner. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
