An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) How Baxter Butted In, the 1925 William Beaudine silent firefighter fireman newspaper family relationship comedy melodrama (adapted from "Stuff of Heroes" by Harold Titus; about a clerk at a newspaper who is in love with a girl, but when her brother dies unexpectedly, he takes care of the brother's widow and two young children; he gets the idea for the newspaper to start giving banquets for local people who have performed heroic acts, but his boss takes credit for it; but when he has a nervous breakdown, the newspaper owner finds out all he has done, and gives him a banquet, and he wins the hand of his girl) starring Dorothy Devore, Matt Moore (in the title role as Henry Baxter), Ward Crane, Wilfred Lucas, Adda Gleason, Turner Savage, Virginia Marshall, "Cameo" (the dog), "and a notable cast of Warner Players". Note that Cameo was a mixed breed dog star that got her big break in 1923's "Penrod and Sam", and then played in a total of 16 movies over a 9 year period, once billed as "Cameo the Wonder Dog". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and it had defects which were repaired during the linenbacking process (which we describe below, as well as the quality of the restoration, if I thought there was something about the restoration worth commenting on!). You should also look at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). the poster had a 1/4" x 1" area of paper loss in the top of the man's hair; there were some vertical creases in the upper middle of the image; there were pinholes in the corners and some other minor border and fold defects. The poster was well linenbacked and looks quite nice! Learn More about condition grades
