Harry Carey Jr. was a character actor from the 1940s to the 1990s, mostly in John Ford westerns. Some of his movies include: The Searchers, 3 Godfathers, and he starred with his father (Harry Carey Sr. was a major western star in the 1920s and 1930s) in Red River. He passed away in 2012 at the age of 91.

Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic.

Note that this item was consigned to us from the family of Ken Jones, who was an author of books about movies (including books about character actors and western stars). In the course of researching his books, he became friends with many Hollywood actors, and he would ask them to autograph stills for him (originals if he had them, or repros if he did not), and they obliged, usually returning the stills to him with a personalized inscription "To Ken". In the case of this still, he likely purchased it autographed, because it is not autographed to him. The family does not have a letter of authenticity for this signed item, but we feel certain it is authentic, given Mr. Jones' personal relationship with the star.
