Kaufman"; "A new Comedy by George S. Kaufman"; about a hotel clerk from Ohio who buys the rights to a play from a shady New York producer; the producer thought it was the worst play ever and couldn't possibly succeed, but the young man gets a beautiful actress to star in it, and against all odds it becomes a giant hit, and the young man sells it back to the producer, and goes back to Ohio with his leading lady, who is now his wife) starring Jack Mulhall, Greta Nissen, Sam Hardy, William Demarest, and Gertrude Astor. Note that there are great parallels between this story and "The Producers"! We wonder if Mel Brooks was inspired to write that based on having seen a version of this play or movie.
