Also included is a herald that has 2 pages. (Learn More) Smart Blonde, the 1936 Frank McDonald crime comedy thriller ("The Adventures of Torchy Blane"; the first of a series of movies with the same main character) starring Glenda Farrell (as Torchy Blane), Barton MacLane, Wini Shaw (often billed as "Winifred Shaw", she was actually born "Wini Lei Momi", and she was of Hawaiian and Irish descent, certainly an unusual combination!), Addison Richards, and Jane Wyman. Note that this first Torchy Blane movie starred Glenda Farrell in the lead role. There were a total of nine Torchy Blane movies. Farrell played the lead in seven of them. In two of the ones near the end of the series, Jane Wyman and Lola Lane filled in for Farrell, perhaps because she had other commitments. The series only lasted for two years, but was quite popular. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned three examples of this pressbook, and only one in the last 19 years! Also note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This pressbook contains the original herald that was included with it, and it is pictured next to the pressbook below. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle. The herald is separated in two pieces. Learn More about condition grades
