An Autographed Bank Note (measures 7 1/2" x 8 1/2") (Learn More) Hal Roach was a legendary producer of mostly comedy shorts from the 1910s to the 1940s (he is credited as the producer on over 1,200 of them!). He was the guiding force behind the Our Gang shorts, the Laurel & Hardy films, and the early Harold Lloyd films, among many, many others. In the early days, his films were released through Pathe. Later, he began distributing through MGM, and he sold his assets to them in the late 1930s and early 1940s. He passed away in 1992 at the age of 100! Important Added Info: Note that this item (which is a bank note on a loan for $10,000 taken out by Hal Roach in 1925 from a Los Angeles bank) has been personally autographed (signed) by Hal Roach as the President of Hal E. Roach Studios, Inc.! Also note that the bank note is also signed by Hal Roach's father, Charles Roach, who was the Secretary of Hal Roach's company (no doubt he really liked having his father work for him!). Note that our consignor has been a memorabilia dealer for the past 30 years, and he tells us that he is certain this autograph is authentic. In some cases he obtained the autographs in person, and in other cases (like with contracts and agreements), it is obvious the signatures are authentic, but he vouches for the authenticity of every item that he has consigned to us, and we also feel certain that the autographs are authentic.
